Ask an Expert: Antibiotic Resistance

Watch me talk with Dr.Ruth Horn, an infectious disease doctor and microbiologist at the McGill health center in Montreal, about antibiotic resistance. We'll be discussing the overuse of antibiotics in general and the use of preventative antibiotics in agriculture, and why and how this is having an impact on public health.

We'll go on to discuss how the antibiotics used in agriculture make their way into our ecosystem, that we are eating trace amounts in our meat and how farm workers are exposed to these antibiotics on a daily basis. Finally, we discuss what is being done to prevent antibiotic resistance due to this overuse and exposure.

Enjoy!
